HP Launch Digital Music Service In Europe

Computer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP), plans to launch digital music service in Europe to complement the entertainment features for some computer models.
Through the new service, HP hopes to gain benefit from the increasing interest of the community to download music from this new service. Digital music service called MusicStation will be available for 16 types of HP personal computers in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium and Austria.
MusicStation is developed and managed by British digital music firm, Omnifone. Actually this is not the first time HP launch a digital music service. Earlier in the U.S., HP also launched a similar service in cooperation with RealNetworks’ Rhapsody.
This subscription services have proven to increase the sales of digital music. Data from IFPI said, an increase in digital music sales by 12 percent from last year to $ 4, 2 billion.
“As a leading PC vendor in the world, HP has a great opportunity to create real competition for Apple’s iTunes, which until today still become a leader in digital music distribution,” said Omnifone Chief Executive Rob Lewis As quoted by Reuters.
MusicStation customers will be charged approximately $ 14, 13 per month to be able to download music and songs through HP services. Previously they could try the trial version of MusicStation service for 14 days.
Last year, in Europe, Middle East and Africa, HP recorded sold approximately 20 million personal computers, differ slightly from their competitors, Acer.
”With a large scale and considerable number of users, will help HP to distribute digital music content services,” said Lewis.
